Habitat for Humanity Project ReStore – Calling for Volunteers & Resources
Habitat for Humanity is looking for resources in securing a site for a retail operation.
The retail operation would be called a ReStore per Habitat for Humanity International guidelines, but would ideally be more than just a thrift shop. It would be located in DeKalb County.
Markets would include
1) Donors of cast off items from lumber to cabinets. Habitat would solicit donations from suppliers that might include doors or windows that were mishandled and cannot be sold. Some Restores have a furniture outlet that requires a nicer showroom atmosphere. Long term Habitat would develop a Deconstruction operation that would offer people who are remodeling their homes an outlet for items removed prior to renovation
2) Purchasers of discounted building materials gathered from the above sources.
An average Restore is 30,000 sq ft of open warehouse with good access and parking and small offices for administration. (A possibility exists of moving current administrative offices to the site, if appropriate).
Please contact John Shaffer at the contact information below if you are willing and able to help with this project.
