2010 CREW Network Leadership Series – First Installment – Competitive Advantage for Real Estate Firms
The first installment of the CREW Network Leadership Series’ University Education Section; a series of real estate programs presented by professors at top universities across the United States was presented on April 8, 2010.
“Competitive Advantage for Real Estate Firms,” was the topic discussed by professor John Macomber of the Harvard Business School, with a special introduction provided by Michael Colacino, president of Studley.
John Macomber, Harvard Business School lecturer provided a context of the overall structure of the global real estate supply chain and discussed how individual firms choose to compete in that structure. Many firms are purely opportunistic– but that leads to average performance, Macomber notes. Firms who think strategically about what they provide, where they compete, how they gain advantage and how they make choices in operations and not just in deals, repeatedly enjoy higher returns with less risk.
